Jockey Island, Guyana- Own your Private Paradise

We recently took a trip to Guyana to tour a few exclusive properties coming up for sale as well as an island.

Jockey Island, is a rare 76-acre paradise tucked within the Essequibo River, Region 3, Guyana. Just minutes from Parika and Buck Hall, this untouched island is rich with mangroves, tidal currents, and fertile riverine landscapes.

Bartica on the Essequibo River is a smaller inland known as the “gateway” to Guyana’s interior and is economically driven by gold, timber and general cargo. Inland waterways with over 1,600 km navigable across Demerara, Berbice, and Essequibo rivers; vital for communities and goods in those regions. Significant investment needed for river ferries and similar services with G$9.3B investments planned for river transport and a further G $9.9B promised in 2025 for new ferry landings.

Hammerhead was announced as Exxon’s ninth commercial discovery in August 2018. The Hammerhead-1 well was drilled in a new reservoir, encountering approximately 197 feet (60 metres) of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone reservoir. The well was safely drilled to 13,862 feet (4,225 metres) depth in 3,773 feet (1,150 metres) of water.

First oil from the Hammerhead project is expected by 2029. The project will use a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) conversion-type Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO), which will be built by Japanese shipbuilder, MODEC. Notably, a total of 445 million barrels of oil is forecast to be produced with an estimated daily production capacity of 150,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd)
